ENTRY FORMAT

  • Entries should be in a .doc file format, not a .docx. The manuscript and synopsis should be one document, with the synopsis following the manuscript.

  • The entry is the first pages (up to twenty-five (25)) of your manuscript.  This can be a combination of Prologue plus Chapter One, or multiple chapters. It is a good idea to stop on a cliff-hanger if you can. Following the manuscript pages, there should be a synopsis that is up to five (5) pages. Even if the synopsis is less than five pages, the manuscript pages cannot exceed twenty-five, and vice versa. The synopsis is not independently judged, but is helpful for the judges to score the entry since the synopsis will show the whole character/story arc.

  • Headers should contain the title and category in the upper left corner and the page number in the upper right.  Author’s name must not appear anywhere on the manuscript or synopsis, or the entry will be disqualified.

  • Please name your entry Category_MSTitle.doc For example, Historical_PrideandPrejudice.doc

  • Entries must be in New Times Roman 12 or in Courier 12 with one inch margins, double spaced, for the manuscript and the synopsis.

  • Payment is accepted online through the RWA website. You will automatically be taken to the payment site when you upload your entry. Feel free to contact the coordinator at molly@hodrw.com with any questions you may have.

FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH ANY OF THE ABOVE RULES MAY DISQUALIFY THE ENTRY AND THE ENTRY FEE MAY NOT BE REFUNDED.
