Choice A) Chris Kennedy & Sarah Hegger:
Be the Hero of your own story
A master class aimed at helping you explore your “story”—finding what makes you happy and how to create opportunities for success.
Romance is a genre of hope. The happily ever after, “love conquers all” endings are sought by both readers and writers of the genre. At the core of so many romance stories is the message that once the hero/heroine has grown into a more authentic version of themselves, they are rewarded with their happy ending.
In the world of the novel, the writer controls the characters to guarantee the happy ending. In life, we often place barriers between us and our success.
Using the tools of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) you will explore your life or “story”, isolate how you want your story to read and rephrase your internal dialogue in a way that allows for eventual success.
Choice B) Damon Suede – Indelible Dialogue
Talk isn’t cheap. Conversations can make or break a book and help your characters pop off the page. In this hour, we’ll unpack an arsenal of tricks you can use to cut the flab in your gab and unleash unforgettable communication. Join screenwriter and novelist Damon Suede for an arsenal of nitty-gritty techniques to turn that chatter into convos that matter.
Choice C) Agent Appointments
Attending Agents & Editors:
Lizzie Poteet, The Seymour Agency
Lizzie is pretty open to most things. Whilst YA is not her primary focus, right now, she loves YA and wouldn’t mind signing a YA author, but it's not her end all be all genre. She is definitely looking for strong historical, romantic suspense, and romantic comedy.
Patricia Nelson, Marsal Lyon Agency
Patricia is specifically looking for YA, women's fiction and contemporary romance with a big hook right now, plus specifically LGBT romance and diverse books of all sorts.
Cat Clyne, Editor, Sourcebooks
Cat is looking for:
"Stories with that perfect mix of heart, humor, and heat featuring unforgettable and diverse characters in all sub-genres: paranormal romance, romantic suspense, contemporary romance, erotic romance, and historicals, especially Highlanders.
Unusual, cross-genre, and outside-of-the-box projects are most welcome, like Sci-fi and Fantasy romance, issue-driven romantic stories with a strong feminist undercurrent, or romantic Thrillers—surprise me!
I’m looking for stories with a slam-dunk hook that communicates the ‘must-read’ element in 1-2 sentences. I’m fond of damaged heroes and a well-written band of brother’s bond. I’m always hungry for a strong (kick-ass) heroine readers will want to root for. Cool world-building and great dialogue will definitely draw me in."
