PLEASE MAKE COMMENTS ON SCORE SHEET & MANUSCRIPT

Score each of the following elements from 1-5.  Use the follow range:

 1, 2   indicates substantial rethinking and revisions needed,

   3     indicates moderate revisions needed,

 4, 5   indicate minor or no revisions needed

OPENING / HOOK                1 — 5 possible points for each question

Does the opening intrigue you with an interesting ‘hook’ that makes you want to read more? .

Does the story seem to start in the right - or an interesting – place?.

SETTING            1 — 5 possible points for each question

Is there a strong sense of time and place?

Do the details enhance rather than distract from the story?        

COMMENTS:

 CHARACTERS          1 — 5 possible points for each question

Is the Hero someone you can root for?

Is the Heroine someone you can root for?

Do their motivations seem believable?

COMMENTS:

SECONDARIES     1 — 5 possible points

Do they enhance the story rather than overwhelm?

COMMENTS:

 DIALOGUE      1 — 5 possible points for each question

Is there a good balance between Dialogue and Narrative?  

Is the Dialogue effective in revealing believable characters?

 CONFLICT / PLOT       1 — 5 possible points for each question

Is there believable Internal conflict? 

Is there believable External conflict?

Is the plot original or told with skill and a fresh twist?.

COMMENTS:

STYLE / VOICE      1 — 5 possible points for each question

Is it a unique or fresh and interesting voice?

Is it free of large INFO dumps that would benefit the story by being tucked in later? 

Are actions and emotions Shown using Telling only to move the story forward? 

Is Point of View clear and the changes not distracting?

Are grammar, punctuation, spelling, or other mechanical aspects handled correctly?.
